Alex Shippen scored a game-high 20 points and
Marquis Marshall and
Steve Pendleton added double-doubles as Alvernia University (9-5) knocked off Penn College of Technology, 73-60, Thursday evening in non-conference men's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
Shippen knocked down a 3 pointer on the Crusaders opening possession, but Penn answered with back-to-back 3s and a 10-0 run to take an early 10-3 lead.
The lead was nine points, 14-5, after a Marquis Delgado 3, but the Crusaders flipped the script with a 18-0 run and held the lead the rest of the way. The Crusaders got a pair of 3s from
Mike Miller, Jr. and another from
Marquis Marshall on the run and
George Williams capped it with back-to-back layups.
The second-half lead grew to as many as 25 points, 56-31, on a Shippen 3 with 15:49 to play.
Alvernia returns to the conference schedule at Widener on Saturday.
