Annville, Pa. (Oct. 25, 2017) - Alvernia University (11-7, 5-2) scored a pair of first half goals en route to a 2-0 win over Lebanon Valley College (6-11, 2-5) Wednesday evening in MAC Commonwealth field hockey action at LVC.
Alvernia qualified for the MAC Commonwealth Championships as the #2 seed and will host either Albright or Widener next Wednesday in a semifinal. Â National No. 1 Messiah College is the top seed and will host the other semifinal.
Albright will play Messiah on Thursday and needs a win to have a shot at the #3 seed. Â Widener will host Arcadia on Thursday and would earn the #3 seed with a win or an Albright loss.
Alvernia opened the scoring Wednesday at LVC in the 11th minute. Â
Madison Potthoff pushed a pass into the circle where
Malorie McCoy converted it into a 1-0 lead.
The Golden Wolves doubled the lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute when
Taylor Dorrin found
Andrea Wysocki for her 12th goal of the season.
Emma Beamesderfer made three saves to record her third shutout of the season.
Alvernia closes the regular season on Saturday at Cabrini.
