Scranton, Pa. (oct. 28, 2017) - Alvernia University (10-8-1) closed the regular season with its largest offensive output of the season taking a 6-0 win at Marywood University (8-8) in non-conference men's soccer action Saturday.

Alvernia has a day to prepare for the MAC Commonwealth Championships which will kick off with the 5/4 play-in game on Monday. Â Alvernia is the #5 seed and will travel to #4 Arcadia at a time to be announced. Â

Alvernia defeated Arcadia, 1-0, during the regular season with Gabe Hochenberger scoring the only goal of the game in the 20th minute and senior Zach Rider making five saves to record the shutout.

On Saturday Alvernia started the scoring in the 15th minute when a cross from senior Metuge Esong found its way to freshman Raine Slovak who finished off the chance.

The score remained 1-0 at the half, and Alvernia exploded for five goals in the second.

Slovak scored the second of the game in the 59th minute. Â He intercepted an attempted clear by the Pacers defense and scored from the edge of the penalty box. Â Three minutes later Slovak hit a corner that Alex Pearson headed in to put the Golden Wolves up 3-0.

Another header goal from Ayide Cole--assisted by Adam Orndorff--made it 4-0 and shortly after that Matt Lee scored assisted by Damien Jennings. Â The Wolves scored three goals in the span of just over five minutes.

With just over 10 minutes left in the game, Collin Miller made his first appearance of the season and cashed in on a goal from Peppe Mini.

Rider made one save in 69 minutes, and Luca Grippi played the final 21 minutes without being tested.
