BOX SCORE Frederick, Md (Oct. 7, 2017) - Alvernia University (4-7-1, 1-2) scored a goal in each half to lift the Golden Wolves to a 2-0 win over Hood College (8-4-1, 0-3) in MAC Commonwealth Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Hood.

Carli Wasson put the Golden Wolves on the board in the 16th minute. Wasson took a long shot from the top of the box to score her first career goal and put Alvernia up 1-0.
Just 24 seconds into the second half, Alvernia struck again.
Kyla Gibson sent a pass into Clare Brier who flicked a shot into net to put the Golden Wolves up 2-0.
Hood fired off six shots in the second half, but the Alvernia defense, behind keeper
Jessica Plunkett, held off the Blazers.
Plunkett finished the game with five saves.
Today's shutout is the 11th of Plunkett's career. She is now tied with Katie Einsel (2003-2006) for third most career shutouts. Colleen Maher (2010-2013) sits atop the record book with 20 career shutouts.
The Golden Wolves continue their MAC Commonwealth Conference Schedule on Tuesday when they travel to Lebanon Valley College.
