Center Valley, Pa. (Nov. 18, 2017) - DeSales University (2-0) outscored Alvernia University 27-5 in the second quarter to launch themselves to 85-45 win over the Golden Wolves during the opening game of the Morgan Stanley Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by DeSales.

Alvernia kept it close in the first quarter. They trailed early, but freshman Julia Ewen evened the game up at 11 all with just under three minutes remaining in the first quarter. Freshman Michaela Miller converted two free throw attempts to put Alvernia up 13-11 before DeSales was able to tie it up at 13-13.

DeSales would go on to enter the second quarter with an 18-15 lead, and the Bulldogs never looked back.

DeSales started the second quarter on a 9-0 run before senior Liv Andrefski made a layup to end the run. A 10-0 run by DeSales would follow before junior Maya Cooper made a free throw attempt to make it 37-18.

DeSales held a dominating 45-20 lead going into halftime, and kept on the gas going into the second half.

The Golden Wolves put on a small 5-0 run to start of the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs lead would be too much for Alvernia to overcome.

Miller finished the day with four steals, a block, and a career high 14 points. Cooper and Andrefski were held to a combined seven points.

Alvernia will return to the court at 2:00 PM tomorrow, when they face the loser of the Lancaster Bible College vs. Centenary University (NJ) in the Morgan Stanley Tip-Off consolation game at DeSales. The winner of the Lancaster Bible vs. Centenary match-up will face DeSales at 4:00 PM in the championship game.
