Towson, Md. (Nov. 22, 2017) - Alvernia University (2-2) jumped out to a 25-6 lead after the first quarter en route to an 81-53 win over Goucher College (0-4) Tuesday evening in non-conference women's basketball at Goucher.
Senior Liv Andrefski hit a 3 to break a 2-2 tie and Alvernia put together a run of 18 straight points to take a commanding 23-4 lead.
Andrefski scored the first five points of the run for the Golden Wolves and freshman Emily Theobald added seven points. Â Alvernia forced 10 turnovers during the five-minute run.
Alvernia held the 19-point lead at the end of the first quarter and pushed the gap to 25 points at halftime, 44-19, and the lead remained 18 or more the rest of the way.
Fourteen players on the Alvernia roster played at least 10 minutes. Â Theobald led the Wolves with 13 points and Andrefski finished with 11. Â Michaela Miller finished with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Alvernia continues the season at Cedar Crest on Monday.
