Reading, Pa. (Nov. 29, 2017) - Hood College (3-1, 1-0) scored 27 points in the fourth quarter of a 63-54 win over Alvernia University (3-3, 0-1) Wednesday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
Alvernia held a 43-36 lead after the first three quarters. Â Hood scored the first seven points of the fourth to tie the score at 43-all. Â Alvernia stopped the streak with a free throw, but Hood hit a 3 to take the lead and spark a 9-2 run that put the guests up 52-46 with 5:36 to play.
Alvernia had the gap down to two points following a Maya Cooper 3 with 2:19 to play, but Hood answered with free throws and hit 10 shots from the stripe in the final two minutes to seal the win.
Mia Savoy scored a game-high 21 points for Hood. Â Cooper finished with 16 points for the Golden Wolves and Liv Andrefski finished with 13.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule at Lebanon Valley on Saturday.
