Reading, Pa (Dec. 6, 2017) - Lycoming College (6-2, 2-1) scored 22 points in the third quarter to on its way to 63-45 win over Alvernia University (3-5, 0-3) during MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Alvernia.
The Golden Wolves trailed by just two points entering halftime before the Warriors pulled away with a fast second half start, scoring seven points in just over two minutes. Lycoming went on to score 42 in the second half.
Liv Andrefski opened the scoring for the Golden Wolves, dropping a three in the first 30 seconds of the game. Lycoming answered with two field goals of its own to take a one point lead. Both teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the first quarter before the Warriors took a six point lead early in the second quarter.
Alvernia came back to within one point with just over a minute to go in the first half, and were only down by two entering the third quarter, before the Warriors went on their second half run.
The Golden Wolves were held to just 26.7% from the floor in the second half, and were 28% on the night.
Shelby Mueller led the Warriors with 16 points, and scored her 1,000th career point during the first half.
Torie Zerbe led the Golden Wolves with nine points and ten rebounds.
Maya Cooper and
Abbie Zerbe both finished the night with nine points each.
The Golden Wolves continue their MAC Commonwealth schedule at Messiah on Saturday.
