Jamaica, N.Y. (Feb. 11, 2017) - Alvernia University (5-2) continued its strong play to start its inaugural season sweeping a pair of matches at the York College (N.Y.) Quad Match Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders opened the day with a 3-1 win over John Jay then knocked off the host Cardinals 3-0 in their second match.

Anthony Dadson led the way with a team-best 22 kills on the day racking up 11 in each match.
Alvernia needed two extended sets to defeat the Bloodhounds in the opener taking the first set of the day 27-25 then closing out the match with a 26-24 win in the fourth set. The Crusaders trailed 20-16 in the fourth set and again 23-21 before running off three straight points for their first match point. John Jay was able to extend the match on a serving error from the Crusaders, but then returned the favor setting up the deciding point on a Bloodhound attack error.
The second match went the Crusaders' way a little quicker with wins of 17-16-17.
Dalton Hartman handed out 27 assists in the second match.
Alvernia returns home to host Arcadia on Tuesday.
