Huntingdon, Pa. (Feb. 18, 2017) - Alvernia University (5-4, 0-3) dropped a pair of Continental Volleyball Conference matches to Top 15 opponents Saturday afternoon in a tri-match at Juniata College.
The Crusaders opened the day with a 3-0 loss to #11 Marymount (7-3, 2-1) then followed with a 3-0 loss to #14 Juniata (9-4, 4-0).  In their inaugural season in the CVC the Crusaders have now faced three teams in the Top 15 in the nation.  Alvernia lost its conference season opener to #10 Eastern Mennonite University.
Freshman
Ralph Lunati led the way for the Crusaders on Saturday totaling 21 kills in two matches. Â
Charlie Saloum had a team-best nine digs. Â
Justin Gibbs had 28 assists over two matches.
Marymount won the opening match by holding Alvernia to scores of 16-20-23. Â Juniata followed winning 22-14-18.
Alvernia returns home to host Wilson and Wilkes on Tuesday. Â Match times are scheduled for 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
