Hacketstown, N.J. (Mar. 2, 2017) - Centenary College (2-0) scored six times in the third quarter on its way to an 11-4 win over Alvernia University (1-1) Thursday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Centenary.
Centenary scored the first goal of the third quarter to move ahead 4-2, then Alvernia scored to pull within one at 4-3.  Centenary cranked up the heat scoring five straight goals over a 4-minute span to push out to a 9-3 lead.  The hosts scored the first two of the fourth quarter for an 11-3 lead, and Jarret Abernethy closed the scoring for Alvernia.
Centenary held a 3-2 lead after the first quarter and neither team scored in the second.
Abernethy led Alvernia with three goals and
Benjamin Manning scored the other.
Kyle Augustine played 55 minutes and made 15 saves for Alvernia. Â Centenary got 12 saves in a full game from Chris Cameron.
Alvernia returns to action on Spring Break when it faces Misericordia University in Clearwater on Monday.
