Reading, Pa. (Mar. 23, 2017) - Misericordia University (4-2) scored the first six goals of the game and the last five in a 15-5 win over Alvernia University Thursday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Alvernia.
The Cougars scored the first three goals in a four-minute stretch then added three more for the 6-0 lead over the next eight minutes.
Alvernia got on the board at 16:05 when
Tequila Donnelly cut through the Misericordia defense and scored, and
Brooke Campione followed with her 12th of the season three minutes later to post a 6-2 score. Misericordia responded with a goal with just under 10 minutes left in the half, but neither team scored again before halftime with Misericordia holding a 7-2 lead at the break.
Campione scored from Donnelly three and a half minutes into the second half, but the hosts couldn't put together a run, and Misericordia's Lexee Willey crushed any hope of a comeback with two goals in a span of 40 seconds that game the Cougars a 9-3 lead.
The lead was five goals with 14 minutes left when Misericordia started its final string of five straight to close the game.
Campione and
Alyson Keene led Alvernia with two goals each.
Alvernia has one more non-conference game against Manhattanville this Saturday before opening the conference schedule next Wednesday hosting Widener.
