Harrisonburg, Va. (Mar. 24, 2017) - Eastern Mennonite University (19-7, 8-2) won a close-fought first set 25-20 and cruised to a 3-0 win over Alvernia University (10-10, 1-6) Friday evening in Continental Volleyball Conference action at EMU.

Anthony Dadson pounded down a kill to tie the score at 15-15 in the first set, but EMU was able to respond with four of the next five points then held its advantage for the 25-20 win in the opening set.
The Royals took at 25-16 decision in the second set then closed out the match with a 25-8 win in the final set.
Ralph Lunati had a team-high 12 kills for Alvernia,
Justin Gibbs finished with 21 assists, and Lunati and
Austin Rush had six digs apiece.
Alvernia returns to action Saturday at the Rutgers-Newark match.
