Elizabethtown, Pa. (Mar. 27, 2017) - Elizabethtown College (6-1) scored seven of the final eight goals in the first half for an 11-4 lead at the halftime break on its way to an 18-8 win over Alvernia University (4-3) Monday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Elizabethtown.
Alvernia got two goals from
Abby McCarthy and another from
Bridget Reynolds over the first 15 minutes and trailed 4-3 before Etown ran off six straight over an eight minute stretch.
Alvernia was able to put together a string of four straight goals midway through the second half to cut the gap down to six, 14-8, but Etown scored the last four of the game for the 18-8 win.
McCarthy finished the game with a team-high three goals, and
Brooke Campione had two goals--going over 100 for her career.Â
Samantha Rothman made eight saves in 36 minutes and
Kallie Taylor played the final 24 minutes and made five saves.
Alvernia returns to the MAC Commonwealth schedule hosting Widener on Wednesday.
