Chester, Pa. (Mar. 29, 2017) - Widener University (4-4, 1-0) scored eight goals in the first half en route to a 16-7 win over Alvernia University (2-5, 0-1) Wednesday evening in MAC Commonweatlh men's lacrosse action.
The game opened up with Widener scoring the first goal on the day less than a minute into the first quarter. The Pride went on to score two more goals mid-way through the first to bring the score to 3-0 going into the second quarter. Widener kept the scoring steak going by posting five goals in the second quarter to take a 8-1 lead at the break. Freshman
Colin Wall scored the only goal for the Crusaders in the second quarter.
Alvernia had a late game rally in the fourth quarter scoring four straight goals in five minutes. Widener answered by scoring two straights goals to ensure the victory.
The Crusaders were lead by Freshman
Sam St. Croix who had three goals and
Patrick Dunn who had two.
Kyle Augustine had nine saves on the day.
Alvernia comes back home to play Wilkes University this Saturday at 7:00 pm
