Glenside, Pa. (April 25, 2017) - Arcadia University (4-11, 2-5 ) scored the game winning goal in double overtime to take a 9-8 win over Alvernia University (3-12, 0-7) Tuesday evening in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Arcadia.

After a scoreless first overtime, both teams headed to the second overtime. With an early turnover from the Knights, the Crusaders carried the ball the length of the field to find their shot saved by the Arcadia goalie. On the Knights next possession, Austin Williams found the back of the net to take the victory.

Alvernia was first on the board with a goal from
Jarret Abernethy coming early in the first quarter. After a game-tying goal from the Knights, Alvernia's
Matt Saxon scored his first goal on the season to take a 2-1 lead. Alvernia tallied another goal to take a 3-1 lead heading into the second quarter.

Alvernia kept the scoring going in the second quarter posting another four goals. Abernathy scored the last three straight goals for the Crusaders to take a 7-2 lead heading into the halftime break.

Arcadia scored four goals in the third quarter to bring the score to 7-6 heading into the fourth. The Knights tied the game up at 7-7 off a faceoff win starting the fourth quarter. Both teams traded goals back and forth to set the score at 8-8 heading into overtime.

Alvernia was lead Abernethy who four goals and
Sam St. Croix who had two goals.
Kyle Augustine had 17 saves on the evening.

Alvernia travels back home to host Albright College in the season finale this Saturday at 3:00 pm.
