Cameron Coons drove in three runs on the day as #11/12 Alvernia University (20-3-1, 10-2) split a doubleheader to win a 3-game series over Widener University (18-7, 9-3) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth baseball action at Widener.
The Crusaders took Friday's opener 6-3 in Reading to start the series. Â Widener scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth in the first game on Saturday for a 5-2 come-from-behind win, then Dunne went the distance allowing just two hits with six strikeouts in the rubber game.

The series win gives Alvernia the tiebreaker advantage over Widener should the two teams end up tied at the end of the regular season.
Widener had a runner reach second base in the second inning of game two, but only had two other baserunners in the game and neither advanced past first base. Â Dunne set the Pride down in order in four of the seven innings including each of the last two.
