Poughkeepsie, NY (Apr. 8, 2017) - Alvernia University (10-20, 1-13) fell twice in a pair of non-conference matches Saturday afternoon in a tri-match at Vassar College.
The Crusaders opened the day strong, coming up just short in the first set of game one against Hunter College, 26-24, after enduring five lead changes across the set. The Hawks then took the final two sets, holding Alvernia to scores of 17 and 14.
Justin Gibbs handed out 32 assists in the matchup and
Ralph Lunati recorded 12 kills.
Vassar College used a 6-1 run late in the first set to extend its 19-18 margin and capture a 1-0 advantage. The Brewers limited Alvernia's scoring as the match went on, taking the next two sets 25-18 and 25-14.
Dalton Hartman and
Spencer Matthews led the way for the Crusaders against Vassar, collecting 17 assists and 10 kills, respectively.
With today's matchup, Alvernia concludes its 2017 inaugural Men's Volleyball season. Â
