Reading, Pa. (Apr. 8, 2017) - Alvernia University (6-4, 2-1) posted 12 first-half goals en route to an 18-8 victory over Hood College (4-8, 0-4) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Women's Lacrosse action on Alvernia's Turf Field.
Rachel Judge and
Tequila Donnelly set the tone early for Alvernia, partnering for a pair of goals in the opening two minutes.
Alyson Keene also netted two goals in Alvernia's first run of the day, which gave the Crusaders a 6-0 margin.
Hood finally got on the board at the 19 minute mark, but
Brooke Campione quickly responded to put the Crusaders ahead 7-1.
The Blazers added a second tally before Alvernia launched a 5-goal run behind the shooting of
Bridget Reynolds and Campione, who notched three and two scores, respectively to take a 12-3 advantage into the half.
The Crusaders just outscored Hood 6-5 in the second half.
Campione had a season-high and career second-best six goals on the day, while Reynolds finished with four and Keene tacked on three. Donnelly led Alvernia with three assists with
Abby McCarthy and
Taylor Dorrin each picking up a pair.
Samantha Rothman and
Kallie Taylor split the game in goal, combining for 10 saves.
Alvernia has a quick turn-around, taking to the road tomorrow for a 2:00 non-conference matchup against FDU-Florham.
