Galloway, N.J. (Sept. 10, 2017) - Stockton University (5-0) scored a goal in the 55th minute then added a late penalty kick for a 2-0 win over Alvernia University (2-3) Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at Stockton.
The teams played a fairly even first half with Alvernia holding a slight 6-5 edge in shots over the first 45 minutes. Â Both goalies made three saves each to keep the game scoreless.
Stockton broke through 10 minutes into the second half when Nick Cristea and Bobby Riordan converted on a give-and-go in the box resulting in Cristea's third goal of the season.
Alvernia nearly found the equalizer four minutes later, but a rip from
Nick Sincavage was off the cross bar.
The Osprey held the 1-0 lead into the final minutes of play when they were given a penalty kick which Cristea converted for the 2-0 final.

Alvernia returns home to start a 3-game homestand on Wednesday hosting Goucher College.
