Reading, Pa (Sept. 16, 2017) - Alvernia University (4-3) netted two second half goals, and goalie
Zach Rider collected five saves, on its way to a 2-0 win over Cabrini University (0-5-1) in non-conference men's soccer action at Alvernia.
Neither team was able to net any goals in the first team. Both teams had minimal scoring opportunities in the first half. Cabrini only recorded three shots on goal, while Alvernia was only able to get one shot off.
In the 60th minute, Alvernia was able to break the 0-0 tie when Adam Orndorf took advantage of a one-on-one opportunity. Orndorf received the ball at midfield, beat the defender, and then fired a shot over Cabrini's keeper.
Nine minutes later, Alvernia's
Cody Hart had a throw in attempt on the corner. Hart's throw was directly at the goal. On the throw in attempt, a Cabrini defender deflected the ball into his own goal, resulting in an Alvernia goal and putting the Golden Wolves up by two.

Zach Rider made fives saves and earned his fourth shutout on the season, and the 23rd of his career.
This afternoon's win is the first time Alvernia has defeated Cabrini since a 2-1 victory over the Cavaliers in 2013.
