Pomona, NJ (Sept. 18, 2017) - A goal early in the second minute of play was enough to lift Stockton University (5-2) to a 1-0 win over Alvernia University (2-5) during non-conference field hockey action at Stockton.
Stockton University's Sarah Gawrysiak wasted no time getting the Osprey on the board. Just over one minute into play, Gawrysiak fired a shot into goal that was saved by Alvernia goalie
Emma Beamesderfer. Gawrysiak was able to gather her own rebound and take another shot, this time connecting with the back of the net.
Alvernia had opportunities late in the game, including three corner attempts during the last four minutes of play. However, the Golden Wolves were unable to fire off any shots during these corner attempts, allowing the Osprey to hold on for the win.
Senior
Malorie McCoy led the Golden Wolves offensively with four shot attempts. Beamesderfer finished the night with seven saves.
Alvernia returns to action on Saturday when they take on MAC Commonwealth Conference foe, Messiah College.
