Grantham, Pa. (Sept. 23, 2017) - No. 1 ranked Messiah College (7-0, 1-0) scored twice in the first half and added three more in the second for a 5-0 win over Alvernia University (2-6, 0-1) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth conference field hockey action at Messiah.

The Falcons scored in the 10th minute and again in the 32nd minute to take the 2-0 lead at halftime.

Alvernia goalie Emma Beamesderfer made 10 of her 12 saves in the first half.  

Messiah took a 3-0 lead on a goal in the 46th minute, moved it to 4-0 in the 58th minute, and closed the scoring with a goal in the 61st minute.

Alvernia returns home to face Delaware Valley College on Tuesday.
