Malorie McCoy scored six minutes into the first overtime period to lead Alvernia University (3-6) to a 1-0 win over Delaware Valley University (4-5) Tuesday evening in non-conference field hockey action at Alvernia.
Alvernia held a heavy advantage in shots from the start, recording 19 shots to four for the Aggies. Â DVU goalie Rosie Bishop made nine saves to keep the Aggies in it, including two in the overtime period.
Alvernia finished with a 9-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Sophomore
Emma Beamesderfer made two saves to record her first career shutout.
Alvernia continues a 3-game homestand and returns to the conference schedule on Saturday when it hosts Hood College.
