Alvernia Handles Hood in 9-0 Win

Wysocki Scores 3 Goals for Alvernia

BOX SCORE Reading, Pa (Sept. 30, 2017) - Five players scored goals for Alvernia University (4-6, 1-1) on the way to a 9-0 win over Hood College (2-7, 0-2) during MAC Commonwealth Conference Field Hockey action at Alvernia.

Andrea Wysocki scored the first goal of the game at the eight minute mark. Wysocki, who was off the left post, received a pass from Madison Potthoff and sent a shot past the keeper.

The second goal of the game came in the 19th. Groves tapped a ball over to Wysocki. Wysocki then sent in a shot that just went by Hood's keeper, scoring her second goal of the game and putting Alvernia up 2-0.

Just over a minute later, Wysocki was sent to the line for a penalty stroke opportunity, where see fired a hard into the left corner of goal.

By halftime, Alvernia had 26 shot opportunities, and never allowed Hood to have possession on the Golden Wolve's half of the field.

Erica Groves was the first to strike in the second half. Maria Panettieri sent the ball over to Groves who fired the shot past the keeper.

Four minutes later, Christina Stefanoni joined in on the scoring. Groves crossed the ball over to Stefanoni who put Alvernia up 5-0.

Just two minutes after that, Malorie McCoy received a pass from Hailey Knowlton, and fired a shot into goal.

Five minutes later, in the 47th minute of play, McCoy and Knowlton switched roles. This time around, McCoy sent a pass into Knowlton who fired a shot in from the right side of the goal, putting the Golden Wolves up 7-0.

In the 56th minute, Andrea Zimmerman had a scoring opportunity of her own when Groves sent a ball into the top of the circle where Zimmerman fired off a shot.

Madison Potthoff, who had the first assist of the game, scored the final goal of the game late in the 68th minute. Potthoff received a pass from Zimmerman and sent in the shot, sealing a 9-0 Alvernia win.

Alvernia finished the game with 48 shots and did not allow Hood any shot opportunities.

The Golden Wolves return to action on Wednesday when they host King's College.
