Reading, Pa (Sept. 23, 2017) - Three different players each scored a goal in a 3-0 Alvernia University (3-4-1) win over Immaculata University (2-3-2) during non-conference women's soccer action at Alvernia University.
The Golden Wolves opened the scoring in the 12th minute of play. Working off of a free kick,
Taylor Gough sent the ball into
Maria Petrongolo, who was positioned just inside the left post of the goal. The ball was placed perfectly into Petrongolo, who tapped it in to put Alvernia up 1-0.
Just over 11 minutes later, Alvernia made it a 2-0 lead when
Alison Hyde broke away from her defender and shot one past Mighty Mac keeper, Allie Tracy.
Each team sent off two more shots prior to entering the half, but neither were able to convert any shots to goals.
Five minutes into the second half, Alvernia added one final goal to its lead when
Mady Harris sent a shot in from a few yards off the right post. The shot deflected off the crossbar and down into goal, giving the Golden Wolves a 3-0 lead.
Immaculata was able to get one shot off in the final five minutes of play, but the attempt went wide allowing the Golden Wolves to hold on to the shutout.

Jessica Plunkett finished the day with four saves and collected her first shutout of the season.
Alvernia returns action on Wednesday when they travel to Eastern University to take on the Eagles in non-conference action.
