St. David's, Pa. (Sept. 27, 2017) - Two goals in the final ten minutes were enough to lift Eastern University to a 2-1 win (3-3-3) over Alvernia University (3-5-1) in non-conference women's soccer action at Eastern.
Alvernia wasted no time getting on the board. Early in the third minute of play,
Taylor Gough sent in a corner kick to
Claire Brier who was able to get a header shot off and connect with the back of the net, putting the Golden Wolves up 1-0
The Golden Wolves would hold the 1-0 lead for 76 minutes before Eastern was able to tie things up on an Alondra Cervantes goal late in the 79th minute.
Just five minutes later, the Eagles were able to take a 2-1 lead when Caroline Lozzi sent a shot past Alvernia keeper,
Jessica Plunkett.
Eastern held onto its lead for the final six minutes to defeat the Golden Wolves.
Alvernia returns to action on Saturday when the Golden Wolves travel to #12 Messiah College to open their MAC Commonwealth Conference.
