Reading, Pa. (Sept. 3, 2017) - Alvernia University (0-1-1) senior
Mady Harris scored her first goal of the season, but Ursinus College (0-1-1) scored an equalizer in the 76th minute of a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Alvernia.
Harris took a diagonal feed from sophomore
Claire Brier early in the second half and buried a shot into the far side netting to put the Golden Wolves up 1-0. The Bears leveled the match in the 76th minute when Mackenzie Groff carried the ball into the box, made a one-on-one move on a defender and hit a shot past Alvernia goalie Jess Plunkett.
Both teams had excellent chances later in regulation. Brier had a beautiful strike in the 84th minute that was turned aside by Ursinus keeper Marisa Kalkstein, and the guests hit the post in the 87th minute.
Both goalies made six saves in the draw.
Alvernia continues the season Wednesday when it plays host to Lancaster Bible.
