Reading, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2018) - Alvernia University (11-7) scored two goals in the final five minutes to take a 2-1 win over Cabrini University (4-13) in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday at Alvernia.
The Cavaliers broke the 0-0 tie one minute into the second half with an opposite corner goal from Cabrini's Trisha Billig to give the Cavaliers the 1-0 advantage.
Morgan Mondschein tied it up for the Golden Wolves in the 65th minute. Mondschein dribbled around a defender and did a quick shot past the Cabrini keeper to even it up with just over five minutes to play.
With just over a minute remaining in regulation,
Taylor Dorrin put the Golden Wolves ahead.
Erica Groves sent the ball into the middle of the circle, and Dorrin tapped it into goal to give Alvernia the late advantage.
Today's game was the final of the regular season. Alvernia will advance to the MAC Commonwealth Championship semifinal as the second seed. The Golden Wolves will face the third seeded Arcadia Knights at home on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
