Chester, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2018) - Widener University (4-4, 4-2) defeated Alvernia University (1-7, 0-7) by a 51-0 final Saturday afternoon in MAC Football action at Widener.
The Pride scored on three rushing touchdowns in the first half and connected on a 51-yard field goal to take a 24-0 lead at halftime.
The hosts scored three more touchdowns in the third quarter and closed the scoring with a touchdown in the fourth.
Widener racked up 435 yards of total offense with 18 first downs. Â Alvernia had 128 yards of offense and eight first downs.
Keiron Black started at quarterback for the Golden Wolves, but went 0-for-5 with an interception before
Matthew Monteverde took over under center. Â Monteverde went 4-for-12 for 53 yards with a long of 22 yards to
Jordan Day.
Ja'Queces Mathis had a team high 38 yards rushing.
Alvernia had a pair of second half drives get deep into Widener territory, but the first ended on downs and the second on a fumble.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule next Saturday hosting Lebanon Valley College.
