Reading, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2018) - Alvernia University (8-10-2, 4-4) scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back on its way to a 4-2 win over Albright College (4-11-2, 1-6-1) in MAC Commonwealth men's soccer action on Saturday at Albright.
Ryan Kuster opened the scoring for the Golden Wolves in the 15th minute to give Alvernia the 1-0 win.
There would be a scoring drought for nearly the next 60 minutes before Alvernia struck again, this time with a goal by
Matt Lee.
Alvernia added its third goal late in the 79th minute.
The Lions ended the shutout bid just over a minute later to cut Alvernia's lead to two.
The Golden Wolves and Lions then exchanged penalty kicks - with
Gabe Hochenberger converting for Alvernia - to close out contest at 4-2.
Nate Nimo played all 90 minutes for Alvernia, making five saves on the afternoon.
The Golden Wolves earned the fifth seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship. They will head down to Maryland to take on the fourth seeded Stevenson University Mustangs in the Championship Play-In Game on Tuesday at 7:00 PM. The winner of the Play In Game will take on number one seeded Messiah College on Thursday at the Falcons.
