Dutchmen Top Golden Wolves In Overtime

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 3, 2018) - Lebanon Valley College (6-3-1, 2-0) scored a goal two minutes into the second overtime period to take a 3-2 win over Alvernia University (4-7-2, 0-1) in MAC Commonwealth Men's Soccer action on Wednesday night at Alvernia.

Lebanon Valley was granted a direct kick opportunity following an Alvernia foul in the box in the 102nd minute.

The Dutchmen opened the scoring the same way they ended it - with a converted direct kick by Kurtis Rineer to the from the far center of the field to the upper left corner of the goal - in the 47th minute of the game.

Alvernia tied it up nine minutes later with a goal from Ryan Kuster. Austin Young took an initial shot for Alvernia
and Kuster gathered the rebound and fired on goal to tie the game up at 1-1.

Two minutes later, in the 58th minute, Rob Hanosek scored for the Dutchmen to give Lebanon Valley the 2-1 advantage, which the Dutchmen would hold for the next 15 minutes.

In the 84th minute, Noah Wright tied up the game for Alvernia with a goal off the left post following a pass in from Kuster.

Both teams had shot opportunities in the final five minutes but were off the mark, sending the game into overtime.

Alvernia had the only shot on goal - a header from Kuster - in the first overtime period, and the Golden Wolves held the Dutchmen to one early shot that sailed wide.

In the 102nd minute, the Dutchmen were granted a direct kick opportunity for the second time on the next. Rineer again took the kick, this time from the left side of the field, and sent the ball, again, just out of reach of Luca Grippi into the left corner to goal to lift the Dutchmen to a 3-2 win.

Grippi finished the game with six saves for the Golden Wolves.

The Golden Wolves continue on with the MAC Commonwealth schedule on Saturday with an away contest against Arcadia University.
