Golden Wolves Top Dutchmen, 2-1

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2018) - Alvernia University (6-6, 2-1) scored took a 2-1 lead in the first half, and held onto it in the second half, to earn a 2-1 win over Lebanon Valley College (6-6, 1-2) in MAC Commonwealth field hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves and Dutchmen traded goals in the first half, with Alvernia taking the lead in the 28th minute and holding onto it for the remainder of the game.

The Golden Wolves opened the scoring late in the third minute. Working off a corner attempt, Erica Groves made an initial shot that richoted to the left side of the field off of the Lebanon Valley keeper. Madison Potthoff recovered the ball before it rolled out and fired a cross back towards the net. Victoria Strasser, positioned off the left post, redirect the ball towards the right post and Morgan
Mondschein made a diving shot attempt to score the first goal of the game for Alvernia.

18 minutes later, Lebanon Valley tied it up 1-1 with a goal of its own in the 21st minute.

Alvernia retook the lead late in the 28th minute off of a goal from Taylor Dorrin to give Alvernia the 2-1 advantage.

The Golden Wolves did not allow a shot from the Dutchmen for the remainder of the game, and took the 2-1 victory.

Emma Beamesderfer and Nicole Heinze split time in net for Alvernia.
