Youngkin Paces Alvernia To 77-59 Win Over Penn Tech

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 10, 2018) - Junior Nicholas Youngkin scored 11 second half points, and 15 points overall, to lead Alvernia University (2-0) to a 79-58 win over Penn College of Technology (0-1) in non-conference men's basketball action on Saturday at Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court.

The Golden Wolves led wire-to-wire after jumping out to 4-0 lead following layups from Keon Taylor and Kyle Gordon in the first minute of play.

Alvernia would go on to build a 17 point lead over the next 18 minutes, entering the half with a 44-27 lead.

The Wildcats came out of the second half fast, going on a 11-2 run to cut the deficit to six 15 minutes remaining in the game.

Alvernia then went on a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to extend its lead to 15.

The Golden Wolves then held the Wildcats scoreless for a six minute period to take a 28 point lead, their largest lead of the game, with 2:37 to play.

Alvernia allowed nine more from the Wildcats over the final two minutes to take the 79-58 win.

Alvernia finished 10-26 from behind the arc and was 19-23 from the line.

The Golden Wolves were led by Youngkin with 15 points. He finished 6-6 from the line and was 3-9 from behind the arc. Keon Taylor finished with six rebounds and 12 points. Justin Thomas came off the bench and scored 13 points, all of which came in the first half. Malik Green also finished with 13 points.

Alvernia returns to action on Saturday at the Franklin & Marshall Tip-Off Tournament.
