Reading, Pa. (Nov. 18, 2018) - Ohio Wesleyan University (2-0) ran out to a 23-10 lead after the first quarter on its way to a 68-42 win over Alvernia University (2-2) Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the Nonno Alby's Tip-Off Tournament at Alvernia.
The Bishops led 5-4 then ran off a 15-1 run to take a 20-5 lead with 1:47 left in the first quarter. Â They put together another 19-4 run in the second quarter and held a comfortable lead the rest of the way.
OWU freshman Devin Hefner scored 28 points in her debut on Saturday and added five points, two rebounds, and three steals on Sunday and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Â Alvernia junior
Kiersten Ingram had nine points and added five rebounds on Sunday and was named All-Tournament Team.
Maya Cooper had a team-high 11 points for the Golden Wolves. Â Tia Karras had a game-high 21 points for the Bishops.
Alvernia returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Cedar Crest College for a non-conference game.
