Aston, Pa. (Feb. 19, 2018) - Neumann University (1-0) scored five straight goals in the fourth quarter to lock up a 13-6 win over Alvernia University (0-1) Monday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse at Neumann.
The Knights had a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and scored the only goal of the game in the second quarter for a 5-1 lead at halftime. Â Alvernia scored the first two goals of the third quarter, and had the deficit back down to three goals, 7-4, when freshman Austin Lucas scored his second goal of the game 90 seconds into the fourth quarter.
Neumann responded to that goal with a run of five straight over the next seven minutes to put the game away.
Jacob O'Donnell made 23 saves in the game for Alvernia. Â Lucas and Jarrett Abernethy led the Alvernia offense with two goals apiece.
Alvernia continues the non-conference schedule next Wednesday when it hosts Centenary College at 4:00 p.m.
