Ashland, Va. (Feb. 25, 2018) - Eighteenth ranked Randolph-Macon (5-0) held #16 Alvernia University (0-2) to one hit over nine innings in a 10-0 win Sunday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at RMC.
Shawn Nickles tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the second for the Yellow Jackets and then scratched out a second run in the inning for an early 2-0 lead.
The hosts added four runs in the third aided by an Alvernia error.
Alvernia picked up its only hit of the game in the sixth when Marcus Celiano ripped a one-hopper through the left side with two out.
RMC scored single runs in the fifth and seventh and added two more in the eighth for the 10-0 final.
Alvernia is off for a week before it heads south for spring break next weekend. Â The Golden Wolves open with a doubleheader against Elms College on Sunday in Ft. Myers, Florida.
