Reading, Pa. (Feb. 28, 2018) - Messiah College (7-3, 5-1) won three straight sets for a 3-1 win over Alvernia University (8-8, 3-3) Wednesday evening in MAC men's volleyball action at the Physical Education Center.
Alvernia put together a nice run to close out the win in the first set taking eight of the final 10 points in a 25-17 win, but Messiah stormed right back winning the first five points of the second set on its way to a 25-18 win that leveled the match at 1-1.
Alvernia jumped out to 5-2 leads in the third and fourth set, but Messiah came back both times winning the third 25-22 and the fourth 25-20.
Ralph Lunati III led the Golden Wolves with 12 kills and 10 digs. Â Collin Welteroth added 10 kills and 10 digs. Â Logan McGinley pounded down 10 kills and Jon Demeter finished with 10 digs.
Messiah got a match-high 15 kills from Logan Hunsberger.
Alvernia is off for a week before hosting seven matches next Friday and Saturday starting with a match against Wilson College on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
