Reading, Pa. (March 14, 2018) - Immaculata University (2-5) used a pair of five goal quarters to power past Alvernia University (0-4) on its way to a 15-6 victory during non-conference men's lacrosse action on a cold night at Alvernia.
The Golden Wolves and Mighty Macs traded the first four goals of the game before Immaculata pulled away.
Alvernia struck first, with
Austin Lucas scoring just 49 seconds into the game.
Immaculata answered with a goal of its own before Alvernia retook the lead with
Jarret Abernethy striking to give Alvernia the 2-1 advantage.
The Mighty Macs would go on a six goal run before Alvernia would strike again.
Jake Hiester scored his first career goal with seven minutes left in the first half to cut Alvernia's deficit to 7-3.
Immaculata would then go on a five goal run throughout the majority of the third quarter.
Abernethy scored his second goal of the game with just over two minutes left in the third quarter,
Sam St. Croix and
Jordan Ludwig each scored in the fourth quarter, but it would not be enough for Alvernia to overcome.
Jacob O'Donnell played all 60 minutes and collected 17 saves.
Alvernia returns to action Saturday, and will host Utica College for a 2:00 PM start.
