Purchase, N.Y. (Mar. 27, 2018) - Manhattanville College (3-4) scored the final two goals of the first half and four of the first five in the second on its way to a 19-9 win over Alvernia University (0-7) Tuesday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Manhattanville.
Alvernia pulled within a goal at 6-5 when Rachel Judge scored with 4:31 left in the first half, but Manhattanville countered a minute later then went up 8-5 with the final goal of the half with under a minute to go.
The Valiants scored the first goal of the second half, but Judge countered with an unassisted goal.
Manhattanville then ran off three straight goals in a two minute span to take a 12-6 lead with 23 minutes left.
Alyson Keene scored twice for Alvernia and Brittany Defibaugh added a goal as the Wolves cut the gap to four goals, 13-9, but the Valiants scored the final six goals of the game to make it 19-9.
Keene and Judge led the Wolves with three goals apiece. Â Samantha Rothman made 17 saves in 60 minutes.
Alvernia opens the conference schedule on Thursday when it hosts Stevenson University.
