Reading, Pa. (March 29, 2018) - Hood College (18-1, 5-1) used a two run sixth inning to take a 3-1 win over Alvernia University (13-6, 5-1) in MAC Commonwealth baseball action on Thursday afternoon at Alvernia.
The Golden Wolves struck first with a solo shot to right field from
Ben Dubas to put Alvernia up 1-0.
Alvernia's defense, behind
Zack Landy, retired the first 12 Blazers before Hood's offense was able to strike. The Blazers plated a run following a walk by Jordan Patterson, a single that advanced Patterson, and a throwing error to bring him home.
Hood added two to its lead in the top of the sixth with a two run double to give the Blazers the 3-1 advantage.
Alvernia got a runner on in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings, but the Golden Wolves were unable to score
Landy pitched seven innings and struck out six in the loss, and Dubas led the offense with two hits and a homer.
The Golden Wolves and Blazers play the final two games of their three game series on Saturday at Hood.
