Reading, Pa. (April 18, 2018) - Alvernia University (19-8, 5-7) lost both games in MAC Commonwealth doubleheader Wednesday afternoon against Hood College (13-15, 4-6).

In game one, the Golden Wolves had a solid pitching performance from
Riley Shields, but was unable to push across a run. Shields threw 7 innings, striking out 9 while allowing only 3 hits. Hood capitalized off a hit batter and fielding error in the third inning to score the only run of the game.
Sarah Reinert went 3-4 for the Golden Wolves.

In game two, Hood used the third inning again to get ahead scoring 2 runs. The Golden Wolves answered back in the home half of the inning by lead off singles from
Alyssa Acker and
Bernadette Carey. An error and sac bunt allowed Acker to score, but a strikeout and fly out would end the inning.

Hood increased their lead in the fifth inning scoring 3 runs to make the game 5-1. In the home half of the inning Alvernia added another run, but would not be able to comeback from deficit with a final score of 6-2. On the day Alvernia left a total of 15 runners on base.

Alvernia will travel to Stevenson University on Saturday for a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM.
