Grantham, Pa. (Apr. 24, 2018) - Messiah College (10-5, 7-1) scored seven goals in the third quarter en route to a 19-8 lead over Alvernia University (2-13, 0-7) Tuesday evening in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Messiah.
Alvernia got a pair of goals from Andrew Ritchie in the first quarter and Zach Brommer's tally in the final two minutes of the quarter tied the game at four goals apiece.
The teams traded goals in the first two minutes of the second quarter then went 10 minutes before Messiah scored at the 2:46 mark and again with nine seconds left for a 7-5 lead at halftime.
Alvernia scored the first goal of the third quarter almost eight minutes after the break, but Messiah responded with seven straight for a 14-6 lead.
The Falcons tacked on five more in the fourth.
Alvernia got a team-high three goals from Ritchie. Â Jacob O'Donnell made 19 saves in net for the Golden Wolves.
Alvernia wraps up the season Saturday hosting Hood College.
