Reading, Pa. (Sept. 12, 2018) - Gettysburg College (2-1) scored the only goal of the game in the 41st minute for a 1-0 win over Alvernia University (1-4) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action at Alvernia.

Alvernia put all five first-half shots on net in the first half, but Gettysburg goalie Jillian Caputo turned aside all five to keep the game scoreless at the break.

The Golden Wolves added two more shots in the five minutes of the second half, but couldn't find the back of the net.  The Bullets countered in the 41st minute with Arden Sheetz setting up Julia Soares for the score.

Alvernia managed three more chances the rest of the way, but Caputo saved both that were on net to preserve the 1-0 win.

Alvernia continues a four game homestand hosting Wilkes on Saturday evening.
