Reading, Pa. (Sept. 12, 2018) - Alvernia University (0-4-1) played Goucher College (2-2-1) to a 2-2 draw Wednesday evening in non-conference women's soccer action at Alvernia.
Both teams scored a goal in each half during regulation. Â Alvernia had the better of the chances in the overtime periods totalling five shots during extra time, but the Golden Wolves couldn't capitalize.
Goucher scored the first goal of the night on a penalty kick in the 17th minute. Â Alvernia tied the score at 1-1 in the 28th minute when

Kyla Gibson for her first goal of the season. Â Gough headed the ball past the defensive line to Gibson who took a touch toward the endline. Her angle seemed nearly impossible, but the sophomore midfielder ripped a shot into the top of the net.
The duo of Gibson and Gough switched roles in the second half to give Alvernia a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute.
A few minutes later, Gouch had a point blank shot at an insurance goal, but Goucher's reserve keeper Christina Charikofsk made the save.
The Gophers were off on the counter and tallied the tying goal with Sara Noughton finding a wide open Christina Yarrish.
Alvernia tallied two more shots in the end of regulation and outshot Goucher 5-1 in the two overtimes.
The Golden Wolves hit the road Sunday to open the MAC Commonwealth schedule at Lycoming.
