Reading, Pa (Sept. 22, 2018) - #6 University of Rochester (7-0) scored the only goal of the game off of a penalty kick to take the 1-0 victory over Alvernia University (2-5-2) in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Alvernia.
The Yellowjackets were granted a penalty kick opportunity in the 23rd minute following a scrum in the box. Rochester's Bryce Ikeda fired a shot into the lower left corner, and Alvernia keeper
Luca Grippi dove left.
The Golden Wolves threatened Rochester in the final few minutes, but the Yellowjackets were able to clear the ball before Alvernia got a shot opportunity off.
Grippi finished the day with seven saves, and
Braden Kreider led the Alvernia offense with two shot attempts.
Alvernia continues its non-conference schedule with a Monday evening game at home against Immaculata.
