Chester, Pa. (Sept. 29, 2018) - Widener University (5-4, 1-1) scored two minutes into overtime to take a 3-2 win over Alvernia University (4-6, 1-1) in MAC Commonwealth Field Hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Widener.
The Pride opened the scoring with two goals in first 22 minutes with goals from Madi Radnoff.
The Golden Wolves cut their deficit to one following a goal from
Morgan Mondschein in the 24th minute.
Alvernia tied the game up with just over two minutes left in the first half with a goal
Victoria Strasser.
The score remained tied at 2-2 for the entirety of the second half to force the overtime period.
Two minutes into the overtime Gianna Perna scored off a corner to lift Widener to the 3-2 victory.
Nicole Heinze played the entire game in net for the Golden Wolves, earning four saves.
Alvernia continues its fall season on Wednesday with an away match against King's.
