Reading, Pa. (Jan. 12, 2019) - Lebanon Valley College (9-7, 5-2) ran off a 21-9 run to start the third quarter and shot 20-of-32 from the floor in the second half en route to a 68-56 win over Alvernia University (3-13, 0-7) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
Alvernia held LVC to just four points in the first quarter and opened up a 25-11 lead with a minute to go in the second. Â The Dutchmen closed the first half with six of the final seven points then ran off 21 of the first 30 in the second to take their first lead since an early 2-0 advantage.
Alvernia took the lead back briefly on a layup from freshman
Amber Orban, but Lebanon Valley scored 10 straight to end the third quarter with a 46-37 lead.
The LVC lead grew to 21 midway through the fourth quarter before Alvernia finished strong for the 12-point final.
Gabriella De Vito led the way for the Golden Wolves with 18 points, and
Maya Cooper added 12. Â LVC got a game-high 23 from Caroline Scarff.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule against crosstown rival Albright College on Wednesday as part of a women's and men's doubleheader.
