Reading, Pa. (Jan. 21, 2019) - Hood College (6-12, 2-7) scored 37 points in the second half for a 57-48 win over Alvernia University (3-15, 0-9) Monday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
Hood led 20-19 at halftime, held a 36-33 lead after three quarters then hit 12-of-16 free throws in the fourth to stay out in front.

Torie Zerbe scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Golden Wolves. Â Freshman
Erin Malin also reached double figures with 10 points. Hood got a team-high 16 points from Mia Savoy.
Malin scored back-to-back buckets for the Wolves midway through the first quarter that put the hosts up 9-4. Â The score remained the same until the final minute when Lauren Keeney hit a 3 and Zara Whitfield scored on a layup to set a 9-9 score after one.
The teams traded leads early in the second quarter and the Blazers pushed ahead 20-15 with 3:21 left in the half, but Alvernia closed with two free throws and a layup to hit the break down 20-19.
Alvernia took a 26-22 lead on a layup from Malin, but a 3 from Savoy sparked a 14-6 run that put Hood up 36-32 at the end of the third.
The Golden Wolves had the gap down to three points, 45-42 with 4:50 to play, but went scoreless for almost the next four minutes while Hood scored seven straight to put the game out of reach.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule Wednesday at Stevenson.
