Reading, Pa. (Jan. 3, 2019) - Stevenson University (5-8, 1-4) scored 28 points in the third quarter en route to a 77-49 win over Alvernia University (3-11, 0-5) Thursday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
The Mustangs led 33-27 at the half then hit 9-of-17 shots from the floor including a 5-for-6 effort from the 3-point line in the third to surge ahead 61-39.

Gabriella DeVito led the was for Alvernia with 11 points each. Â Stevenson had four players reach double figures led by Jonyea Curry who scored 17.
Alvernia was up 15-10 with 90 seconds left in the first quarter, but Stevenson scored the last eight in the quarter to an 18-15 lead after one.
The Stevenson lead reached double figures midway through the second quarter at 26-16, but Alvernia cut it down to five points and was down by six at the break.
The Mustangs built a comfortable lead scoring 14 of the first 15 points in the third quarter.
Alvernia is off for the weekend and continues the conference schedule at Lycoming next Wednesday.
